Brooklyn motorcycle rider killed after colliding with parked truck
CROWN HEIGHTS — AN EAST FLATBUSH MAN died Friday morning after riding his motorcycle into a double-parked truck on St. John’s Place near Utica Ave. in Crown Heights. Police said they responded to a 911 call on Friday, Aug. 2, at 11 a.m. of a motor vehicle collision at 1406 St. John’s Place. Upon arrival, they found Gary Nixon, 57, unconscious and lying in the roadway with trauma to the head and body. EMS transported him to NYC Health and Hospitals/King County where he was pronounced deceased. Further investigation by the NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad determined that Nixon was operating a 2023 Jiajue motorcycle, traveling eastbound on St. John’s Place, when he collided with a 2017 Hino box truck.
The truck was unoccupied at the time of the collision and it remained on scene. There are no arrests and the investigation remains ongoing.
