DOWNTOWN BROOKLYN — BROOKLYN MUSIC SCHOOL, a Downtown Brooklyn institution for more than a century, is holding an emergency benefit concert on Wednesday to raise $100,000 — money it needs to continue its programming for kids after cuts to city and state budgets and rising costs have led the school to cancel the remained of its June programming and furlough several key staff members. “We stand now at a critical juncture in our history, one that could jeopardize the over 6,000 children and families BMS serves, losing access to arts programming, childcare, and therapeutic services as soon as July 8,” BMS said in a statement Friday.

The benefit concert features Meshell Ndegeocello, Mark Kelley and Captain Kirk Douglas (the Roots), Peter Gunz, Members of Living Colour, Gordon Chambers, DJ Logic and more. Suggested ticket donation is $50. Details: Wednesday, June 26 at 7:30 p.m., BMS Playhouse, 126 St. Felix St.
