SOUTH STREET SEAPORT — THE AMERICAN LUNG ASSOCIATION RECENTLY HONORED MAIMONIDES HEALTH at the ALA’s 10th Annual New York City LUNG FORCE Walk, held at the South Street Seaport in lower Manhattan. Maimonides has been a supporter of the Walk since it began in 2014. The LUNG FORCE Walk raised more than $200,000 for research and awareness for lung cancer, the leading cause of cancer deaths in the United States. This anniversary also coincides with the 10th anniversary of the Maimonides Lung Cancer Screening Program, which has preventatively screened more than 5,000 patients for lung cancer in the last decade and has identified more than 70 lung cancers, especially in the early stages at which it is most treatable.

“We are proud to partner with ALA to raise awareness and support for lung cancer,” said Jason Shaw, M.D., Director of General Thoracic Surgery and Director of the Maimonides Lung Cancer Screening Program. “Walking is our way of recognizing and celebrating those whose lives have been affected by lung cancer and sending a message of hope to those going through it right now.”
