REGIONWIDE — A POPULAR TOMATO BASIL SAUCE WAS RECALLED after jars were reported swelling, bursting or leaking, according to an alert from the U.S. Food & Drug Administration. Hudson Harvest of Germantown, NY, is voluntarily recalling Hudson Harvest Tomato Basil Sauce because of reported swelling, leaking or bursting jars. There is a possibility that the product has been under-processed during the canning stage in which contents are pressurized, which could lead to potential spoilage, organisms or pathogens. The product was sold to retailers in New York, Connecticut and Massachusetts during May and June. The product is packaged in a 16-ounce glass jar and printed with lot #1042426 and UPC #683720301567. The UPC is found above the bar code, and the lot number is on the side of the jar. Although no illnesses have been reported, consumers are warned not to use the product even if it does not appear spoiled. If you have purchased this product, return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.

The sauce was locally grown and sourced within the tri-state area.
