RED HOOK — RED HOOK WILL BE GETTING AN INTERIM LIBRARY while its permanent branch closes for a complete renovation next month. The Red Hook Interim Library will open at 362 Van Brunt Street, between Sullivan and Wolcott Streets, starting Tuesday, July 9. This location, on the street level of an apartment building (according to Google Maps), will serve as Red Hook’s neighborhood library during Red Hook Library’s interior and exterior renovation. The Red Hook Interim Library hours will be Mondays-Fridays, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with materials available for all ages, as well as computer access and free WiFi, library card sign-up and programming. The Red Hook Interim Library is the fruit of local collaboration with City Councilmember Alexa Avilés, the Friends of Red Hook Library, the leadership of Red Hook Houses West, the Service Committee of the former Red Hook Civic Association and the nearby IKEA Brooklyn store, which has donated furniture and supplies to ensure a welcoming and comfortable environment for patrons of all ages.

Amazon, which has bolstered off-site library programs in Red Hook for the past year, is providing generous support for library services at the interim branch.
