CENTRAL BROOKLYN — REP. YVETTE CLARKE (NY-09) applauded the Biden administration’s announcement that it will move to allow undocumented migrants married to American citizens and who have been in the U.S. for ten years to legally remain united here with their families while they apply for lawful legal status. “For undocumented spouses of U.S. citizens whose future in our nation is now secured, the many children living in mixed-status households who were at risk of losing a parent to deportation, and the countless other Americans … the immediate and meaningful impact of this moment cannot be overstated,” Clarke said in a release Tuesday.

The action comes even as the Biden administration has tightened the southern border, implementing executive actions to bar migrants from crossing when encounters are high and deploying record numbers of law enforcement personnel, infrastructure and technology. Republicans recently voted against one of the toughest set of border reforms in decades.
