The Women’s Bar Association of the State of New York (WBASNY) held its 2024 Convention from May 30 to June 2 at The Gideon Putnam Resort in Saratoga Springs. During the event, Marea Wachsman, a prominent lawyer from Brooklyn, was installed as the new president for the 2024-2025 term.

Wachsman is a founding member and partner at Schreier & Wachsman, LLP, where she litigates various civil matters, focusing on representing seriously injured victims of medical malpractice, wrongful death, airline accidents, automobile accidents, construction accidents, slip-and-fall accidents and other negligence cases. She also represents commercial litigants and is involved in all aspects of case management from inception to completion.

Wachsman reviews every potential medical malpractice case and most personal injury cases for the firm, having assessed thousands over the years. Her extensive investigative work, which includes gathering evidence, reviewing medical records, and consulting with experts, has enabled the firm to achieve successful settlements in court, at arbitration, in mediation, and through negotiations with insurance companies.

Wachsman is well-regarded in the legal community as a specialist in medical malpractice cases, earning the moniker “lawyer’s lawyer” for medical malpractice referrals. She serves as the Treasurer of the New York State Trial Lawyers Association (NYSTLA) and holds executive roles in various legal organizations, including WBASNY, the Women’s Trial Lawyers Caucus, and the Brooklyn Women’s Bar Association. She is also a member of the American Association for Justice, the New York City Bar Association, and the Long Island Board of Realtors, among others.

Raised in Las Vegas, Nevada, Wachsman received her B.A. in Political Science from The American University in 1992 and her Juris Doctor from New York Law School in 2000.

Joining Wachsman in the leadership team are President-Elect Lisa Noroian (Orange-Sullivan), Vice Presidents Rebekah Nellis Kennedy (Capital District), Teresa Nuccio (Staten Island), and Madison Porzio (Queens). Jodi Ann Donato (Suffolk) was installed as Treasurer, Senovia Moncada (Rochester) as Corresponding Secretary, and Kerri L. Yamashita, Esq. (Mid-Hudson) as Recording Secretary.
