BROOKLYN HEIGHTS – CHEF CHARLIE MITCHELL of Brooklyn Heights’ Clover Hill restaurant was named 2024’s Best Chef in New York State by the James Beard Foundation last week, reports the Brooklyn Heights Blog. The foundation, named after the bestselling cookbook author, honored Mitchell, along with a crop of the nation’s top chefs, at its annual awards ceremony in Chicago on June 10. Clover Hill serves American cuisine focused on seafood and vegetables and quickly became a foodie favorite after its grand post-pandemic reopening in 2022. Last year, Mitchell became the first Black chef in NYC to earn a Michelin star.

Mitchell, 31, has also previously received Michelin’s Young Chef Award.
