Subway tragedy as woman jumps in front of F train at Herald Square

SUBWAY SYSTEM: 34TH ST-HERALD SQUARE — A BROOKLYN- BOUND F TRAIN at the 34th St.-Herald Square station hit and killed a woman who jumped in front of it during the Wednesday morning rush hour, witnesses have told the Daily News. The woman jumped onto the tracks as the Coney Island-bound F train rolled into the station, landing underneath the train’s wheels, police told the Daily News. The tragedy, which caused major delays and reroutes on the B, F, and M trains throughout the city, occurred around 7:45 a.m. Police have not yet identified the woman pending family notification, but she appeared to be in her 20s. During the investigation, the MTA rerouted all Brooklyn-bound F and M trains all the way from the Jackson Heights-Roosevelt Ave. station in Queens. As of 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 29, the MTA’s website reports that the B, F and M trains are running with delays.
