Brooklyn man sentenced to 10 years following Bensonhurst burglary spree

DOWNTOWN — AFTER A STRING of burglaries in Bensonhurst and Gravesend over six months from 2022 to 2023, Bensonhurst resident John Catullo, 55, was sentenced on Wednesday to 10 years in prison, Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez said in a statement. Two of the burglaries took place in homes, and four in local stores. Catullo was convicted of stealing Rolex and Cartier watches, gold and diamond necklaces, bracelets and earrings, merchandise and thousands in cash. At least one burglary was committed while Catullo was out on bail set for previous break-ins, Gonzalez said. Catullo’s co-defendant for the first set of burglaries, Sam Kravchenko, 36, of Coney Island, was sentenced on April 24 to two to six years

Catullo was sentenced by Brooklyn Supreme Court Justice Danny Chun.
