Public hearing on New York judicial compensation scheduled for October 31
The New York State Commission on Legislative, Judicial and Executive Compensation will hold a public hearing to discuss judicial salaries on Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2023.
Scheduled for 12:30 p.m., the meeting will be at the New York State Bar Association’s City View Room, located at 1 Elk Street, Albany, New York 12207. For those unable to attend in person, the hearing will be live-streamed, with information for remote access available on the Commission’s website the day of the meeting.
Those wishing to testify should contact the Commission ahead of time either via email at [email protected] or by regular mail at 64 Beaver St., Box 454, New York, N.Y. 10004. Written submissions from the public are also encouraged and will be posted on the Commission’s website.
The Commission, which is re-established every four years, is tasked with making recommendations about compensation for state judges, legislators, and certain state officials. The Commission’s recommendations become law unless altered by legislation. It is required to make its recommendation on judicial pay by the end of this year, with another report on legislative and executive compensation due by Nov. 15, 2024.
