Assistant U.S. Attorney Soloveichik from EDNY honored at Director’s Awards in D.C.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Layaliza Soloveichik of the Eastern District of New York was honored at the 38th Director’s Awards Ceremony held on Wednesday, May 3, in Washington, D.C.

The ceremony took place in the Great Hall at the Robert F. Kennedy Department of Justice Building and was presided over by Deputy Attorney General Lisa Monaco and Executive Office for U.S. Attorneys (EOUSA) Director Monty Wilkinson.

Breon Peace, United States Attorney for the Eastern District of New York, expressed his congratulations to Soloveichik, acknowledging her superior performance as an Assistant U.S. Attorney. “Layaliza’s vision, skill, and tenacity as a litigator and supervisor on behalf of the United States have enhanced the stature of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York and furthered the mission of the Department of Justice,” he said.

EOUSA Director Wilkinson also commended the award recipients for their dedication and resilience.

“The recipients we honor today have shown remarkable resilience and commitment to justice through challenging times, rising to the occasion with unwavering dedication to their mission. They have worked tirelessly to protect the rights of Americans and exemplify the very best in federal service,” he stated.

AUSA Soloveichik was recognized for her exemplary leadership in managing the district’s demanding civil immigration and programmatic practices, encompassing more than 1,500 cases. Currently serving as the Deputy Chief of the Civil Division in the Eastern District of New York, Soloveichik previously held the position of Chief of the Immigration Litigation Unit.

She has successfully navigated various emergency litigation and programmatic challenges in groundbreaking cases of national significance. Moreover, Soloveichik has taken on leading roles in defending challenges to national policies related to the COVID-19 pandemic and long-standing vaccine policies.
