Judges rock the courthouse during Law Day celebration

The Kings County Supreme Court commemorated Law Day with a special event held in the central jury room on Wednesday. The celebration featured a keynote address by Hon. Sylvia Hinds-Radix, former administrative judge of the courthouse located at 360 Adams Street. The event culminated in a remarkable performance by Hon. Lawrence Knipel and Hon. Matthew D’Emic, who played Woody Guthrie’s “This Land is Your Land” on their acoustic guitars.

The theme for Law Day 2023 was “Cornerstones of Democracy: Civics, Civility, and Collaboration.” It served as an invitation for all Americans to come together in rekindling trust in our institutions, fostering mutual respect, and collaborating to tackle the challenges that our nation faces.

Other speakers included Hon. Rowan Wilson, the chief judge of the State of New York, Hon. Tamiko Amaker, Hon. Deborah Kaplan, Hon. Edwina Richardson-Mendelson, Hon. Frank Seddio, and Hon. Nancy Sunshine. Hon. Danny Chun sang the national anthem.
