DOWNTOWN BROOKLYN — Kings County Surrogate’s Court has announced new protocols for filing applications on an urgent basis. The change aims to streamline the process and ensure timely action for cases requiring immediate attention.

Effective immediately, attorneys must file urgent applications through the New York State Courts Electronic Filing (NYSCEF) system. Unrepresented parties have the option to use NYSCEF, mail, or in-person filing in the appropriate department. The application must include an affidavit or affirmation outlining the urgency of the matter. This documentation can be filed at any point during the pendency of the proceeding. In addition, a copy of the NYSCEF confirmation notice must be emailed to [email protected] to ensure prompt processing of the urgent application.
