Is Brooklyn losing Pete Davidson for good?
After car crash, comic vacates Brooklyn Heights penthouse
BROOKLYN HEIGHTS — Comic and city celebrity Pete Davidson has vacated the penthouse he was renting at 46 Old Fulton St. in Brooklyn Heights near the DUMBO border, according to reports on Thursday.
The Staten Island native made the move across the water – from a $1.2 million oceanfront condo – to better shores in January of this year.
The three-and-a-half bath, 4,500-square-foot unit and its debut on the market were first revealed exclusively by the New York Post. The penthouse features panoramic views of the Manhattan skyline and the Brooklyn Bridge with a rooftop garden, as well as a swanky outdoor area and kitchen.
As Davidson, 29, leaves, the legendary Bensonhurst pizza restaurant L&P Spumoni Gardens is moving into 46 Old Fulton’s St.’s bottom retail floor.
The U.S. Sun reported in December that “distinctive” units in DUMBO like Davidson’s could reach $20,000 to $30,000 per month. The unit at 46 Old Fulton St. dates back to 1925, sitting atop a nondescript building. The 1,500-square-foot deck spans across the entire roof, according to the Post and the U.S. Sun. Perfect for a celebrity to lay low.
TMZ reported on March 5 that Davidson had crashed his sports car into a Beverly Hills house with his girlfriend, “Bodies, Bodies, Bodies” star Chase Sui Wonders, 26, riding shotgun. Nobody was hurt in the accident, but the crash traumatized a resident of the home, according to the Post. Davidson was driving around a corner when he lost control of his Mercedes sedan, mulling over a fire hydrant and slamming into the side of the house at Rodeo Drive and Elevado Avenue in Los Angeles.
The original police call was made at 11:12 p.m. on March 4, according to Yahoo News. Just before the incident, Davidson was at the Kids Choice Awards with “Transformers Rise the Beast” co-performers. The Beverly Hills Police Department is still investigating the crash.
Davidson is known for his performances on the canonical skit show Saturday Night Live, which he quit last year. He told the press in February of 2022 that he was relocating to Brooklyn, and moved in sometime in late 2022. The first sighting of him at the building was last December, when Davidson and Wonders were scrummed by paparazzi entering the Old Fulton Street residence.
The neighborhood largely welcomed Davidson’s presence, and he was known as a polite and mostly reserved resident. A resident of DUMBO told the U.S. Sun last January that “everyone loves him” and that he is “very polite.” Davidson has also caught attention for previously dating socialite Kim Kardashian, and for a loose association with model Emily Ratajkowski.
