Bay Ridge Lawyers come together for a late holiday tradition

DYKER HEIGHTS — The Bay Ridge Lawyers Association held its annual Holiday Party and Judge’s Night at Sirico’s Caterers in Dyker Heights on Tuesday, Jan. 19 where approximately 100 members and judges got together to celebrate the holidays.
In recent years, the Bay Ridge Lawyers have held their party after the holidays because there are often too many events hosted by the legal community in the month of December. So about six years ago, past president Margaret Stanton got the idea to move the party to January.
It allowed the group to begin hosting a “Breakfast with Santa” event that is more community and family oriented. Then, the members get together in January for a networking event, and the group invites many of the local judges.
“The crowd that showed up tonight was tremendous,” said President Dominic Famulari. “The support we get from the judiciary is fantastic. We thank all of the judges for coming tonight.”

The event wasn’t a formal one. President Famulari gave brief remarks and past president Ray Ferrier welcomed the members of the judiciary. After remarks, there was a buffet and dancing.
The Bay Ridge Lawyers Association will next meet on Wednesday, Jan. 25 at 6 p.m. at Mama Rao’s in Dyker Heights for their monthly meeting.
“We have excellent speakers from the Surrogate’s Court in Brooklyn that people aren’t going to want to miss,” Famulari said of the upcoming event. “Cynthia Hammond and Mary Kim are giving a presentation on a Surrogate support topic. They’re experts in the field and it’s something that people who practice won’t want to miss.”

Famulari said that he couldn’t announce all of the details about the group’s upcoming Atlantic City seminar, but he did give out the dates — March 23rd and 24 — and announced a few of the speakers.
“We are working on finalizing the details on our Atlantic City trip,” Famulari said. “The details will be going out shortly, but it will be March 23 and March 24. We have great speakers lined up. We have Eric DiNapoli, a longtime member, Bruno Codispoti, who is always entertaining, and we have Joe Rosato who is speaking along with Judge Patricia DiMango.”
