DOWNTOWN BROOKLYN — A 23-year-old from Staten Island was charged on Thursday at the Brooklyn Supreme Court for sex trafficking a 16-year-old girl from Brooklyn, while his co-defendant remains unapprehended.

Kaelin Alexander, also known as Chantz, was arrested and it with a 12-count indictment for sex trafficking of a child, second-, third- and fourth-degree promoting prostitution and endangering the welfare of a child.

Alexander appeared before Supreme Court Justice Danny Chun, who set bail at $50,000 cash or $350,000 bond. His next court appearance is on January 23, 2023.

“These defendants allegedly took advantage of a teenage girl, forcing her to repeatedly engage in sex with several men in exchange for money that the defendants took from her,” said District Attorney Eric Gonzalez. “We have no tolerance for this kind of outrageous conduct, and I will continue to hold accountable anyone who criminally exploits vulnerable youth in Brooklyn.”

Between August 7, 2022 and August 19, the defendant and his unapprehended co-conspirator, allegedly made their victim, a 16-year-old girl, engage in prostitution, prosecutors claim. The girl was forced to walk “the track” on Pennsylvania Avenue in East New York, an area known for prostitution.

Prosecutors said that on the night of August 20, Alexander and his co-defendant got into an argument and the co-defendant left the car, but Alexander stayed behind to continued forcing his victim to engage in prostitution while collecting the money she earned.

It wasn’t until approximately two months later, on October 17, 2022, that the victim was found by law enforcement officials, after an undercover operation was conducted, and an investigation into Alexander was commenced.
