Chief Administrative Judge Lawrence Marks, his co-chair Chief Justice Paul Reiber of Vermont, and the National Judicial Task Force to Examine the State Courts’ Response to Mental Illness will release its report this week on the courts’ response to mental illness.

The report follows a multi-year investigation by the Task Force, and it will make recommendations to assist state courts to respond to the needs of court-involved people with serious mental illness.

Following release of the report, Miriam E. Delphin-Rittmon, Ph.D., Health and Human Services Assistant Secretary for Mental Health and Substance Use and the leader of the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, and Dr. Sarah T. Vinson, Interim Chair, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Morehouse School of Medicine, Atlanta, Ga.; and Judge Nan Waller, Multnomah County, Oregon, will offer remarks. They are expected to highlight the impact of partnerships between state courts and federal agencies.
