
Enjoy Gowanus this weekend with poetry, comedy or canoeing

EDITORS’ NOTE: The Gowanus Dredgers Canoe Club has all of the tools to take Brooklynites on a trip–either on the waters of the famed canal, or cultural journeys in the vital ethos of environmental preservation. Below , courtesy of the Dredgers, are a few highlights, including a musical one tonight (Wednesday, September 28).
This week, the The Gowanus Dredgers will offer Poetry Afloat with our canoes and Poetry on Gowanus Walls; 7 short films, followed by live responses by local poets at 2nd St.
Here’s what’s happening:
- Tonight 6-8:30pm : The Boathouse Jam at our Gowanus Shoreline
- 29 Sep 7-9pm : Whitman on Walls! : The Brooklyn Book Festival
- 30 Sep 7-9am : Dawn Poetry Reading of Hart Crane in Canoes
- 30 Sep 6:30-8pm : Cuba Libre Boathouse Comedy Show
- 1 Oct 1-9pm : Van Alen Block Party in Gowanus (Douglass St.)
- 2 Oct 1:30-3:30pm : A Persistence of Cormorants Poetry Reading
