OREGON — Fall: Anne Zagre, of Belgium, fell running alone in a heat in the women’s 100-meter hurdles at the World Athletics Championships on Saturday, in Eugene. Zagre in lane six got hampered during the race at the 10th hurdle by Nia Ali, of the USA in lane five. Ali of the USA knocked a hurdle over and got in lane six, affecting Zagre.

PARAGUAY — Saint of birds: Osmar Aguero posed for a photo dressed in feathers to honor Saint Francisco Solano, known as the Saint of birds, during a Catholic Mass in Emboscada, on Sunday. Legend has it that while lying on his death bed in a Peruvian convent, birds perched on Solano’s window and would sing to him, inspiring his followers to dress in bird costumes.
