INDIA — Washerman: A dhobi, or a washerman, hung clothes for drying after washing them on the banks of the River Gomti in Lucknow, on Sunday. Dhobis are traditional laundry workers who wash clothes by hand and dry them in the sun, an occupation that has been in existence for generations. This practice is still popular in many parts of India, despite modern technology.

BRAZIL — Dolphin recovery: Guiana dolphins swam in Guanabara Bay, Rio de Janeiro, on Friday. Researchers said the last pod of dolphins in Guanabara Bay showed signs of some recovery. Thousands of dolphins once roamed through the rich fishing grounds offshore Rio but fell victim to pollution and overfishing depleting their food source.
