“Getting around New York should not feel like you are running a 5K.” That’s the way Mayor Eric Adams clarified his new initiative, “NYC Ferry Forward.”
On the heels of a recent dramatic revelation about the short-comings and overspending of East River routes serving Brooklyn and parts of Manhattan, Adams stepped up to rescue a failure born prior to his administration. Comptroller Brad Lander last week clarified that losses of the city’s subsidized commuter ferry system had been under-reported by almost a quarter of a billion dollars.
