PERU — Clown Day: “Triston” the clown marched for the first time after two years of COVID-19 pandemic restrictions kept them from celebrating The Day of the Peruvian Clown, in Lima, on Wednesday. Professional clowns gather annually on this date to honor the beloved clown “Tony Perejil” who died on May 25, 1987 and was known as “the clown of the poor” because he performed in low-income neighborhoods to which he would donate a portion of his earnings.

ARGENTINA — Dedication: Journalists gathered for the presentation of an aircraft dedicated to the late soccer legend Diego Maradona, at a military base in Moron, on the outskirts of Buenos Aires, on Wednesday. The airplane departed for the provinces of Argentina and other parts of the world reaching its final destination at the World Cup in Qatar at the end of the year, displaying jerseys and other objects that belonged to Maradona, as one of the many tributes planned to coincide with the first World Cup since his death.
