UKRAINE — Mourning: Mariya Ol’hovs’ka, 33, mourned the death of her father Valerii Ol’hovs’kyi, 72, killed by a Russian missile on March 30 near his house, on the outskirts of Kyiv, on Friday. Maria and her family buried her father in the garden of their home as they could not bury him in the village cemetery due to fighting between the Ukrainian and Russian armies.

SRI LANKA — Economic crisis: Sri Lankans watched after setting a bus on fire during a protest outside the Sri Lankan president’s private residence on the outskirts of Colombo, on Friday. Sri Lanka police fired tear gas and a water cannon to disperse the several hundred people protesting. The crowd had gathered on Thursday to protest the economic hardships faced by them. Protestors shouted slogans condemning the long power cuts and shortages of essentials.

UKRAINE — Destroyed: Destroyed Russian armored vehicles were seen in the outskirts of Kyiv on Thursday. Russian forces shelled Kyiv suburbs, two days after the Kremlin announced it would significantly scale back operations near both the capital and the northern city of Chernihiv to “increase mutual trust and create conditions for further negotiations.”
