Sinking feeling on 11th Avenue

DEP repairs the sinkhole in Dyker Heights.

A large sinkhole formed on 11th Avenue between 85th and 86th Streets March 16.

The hole was about eight feet wide and two feet deep.

The New York City Dept. of Environmental Protection made emergency repairs the same day.

DEP said a broken sewer pipe at 8502 11th Ave. caused the collapse.

“They have been directed to have a plumber onsite to make necessary repairs,” DEP said.
