POLAND — Staying warm: A woman wrapped in a blanket tried to keep warm after fleeing from Ukraine and arriving at the border crossing in Medyka, on Monday. Hundreds of thousands of Ukrainian civilians who attempted to flee to safety on Sunday were forced to shelter from Russian shelling that pummeled cities in Ukraine’s center, north, and south.

KASHMIR — Funeral: Family members and relatives mourned as they carried the body of Rafia Nazir, a young Kashmiri woman killed in a grenade attack, during her funeral in Srinagar, on Monday. At least two civilians were killed and nearly two dozen were injured when an assailant lobbed a grenade at a busy market in Srinagar on Sunday.

UKRAINE — Destroyed bridge: People crossed an improvised path under a destroyed bridge while fleeing the town of Irpin close to Kyiv, on Monday. Russia announced yet another cease-fire and a handful of humanitarian corridors to allow civilians to flee Ukraine. Previous such measures fell apart and Moscow’s armed forces continued to pummel some Ukrainian cities with rockets Monday.
