FRANCE — Speech: France’s President Emmanuel Macron delivered a speech during a meeting with police officers in Nice, on Monday. President Macron traveled to the French Mediterranean coast on Monday to talk about internal security, making a pit stop in the city where an extremist drove a cargo truck into Bastille Day crowds in 2016, killing 86 people and injuring hundreds more.

CHINA — Mass testing: Family members rode an electric-powered scooter on a street in Beijing on Sunday, in Tianjin. Tianjin began mass testing of its 14 million residents on Sunday after a cluster of a dozen children and adults tested positive for COVID-19, including a few with the omicron variant.

UKRAINE — Fine line: A Ukrainian soldier walked on the line of separation from pro-Russian rebels, in the Donetsk region, on Monday. President Joe Biden warned Russia’s Vladimir Putin that the U.S. could impose new sanctions against Russia if it took further military action against Ukraine.
