KAZAKHSTAN — Damage: A man took a photo of the windows of a police kiosk damaged by demonstrators during a protest in Almaty, on Wednesday. Demonstrators denounced the doubling of prices for liquefied gas and clashed with police in Kazakhstan’s largest city and held protests in about a dozen other cities in the country.

HONG KONG — Docked: A passenger looked out from the Spectrum of the Seas cruise ship docked at Kai Tak cruise terminal in Hong Kong on Wednesday. Thousands of passengers were held on Wednesday on a cruise ship in Hong Kong for coronavirus testing after health authorities said multiple passengers were linked to a recent omicron cluster and ordered the ship to turn back.
