INDIA — Virtual school: A teacher working at a government school gave an online class inside an empty classroom in Dharavi, Mumbai, on Tuesday. Amid a surge in COVID-19 cases in Mumbai the civic body on Monday decided to shut schools of all mediums for classes until January 31, a civic official said.

GERMANY — Protest: A person wore a blue mask while gathering with others in front of the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin, on Tuesday for a protest rally against the 2022 Olympic Games in Beijing. A coalition of human rights organizations called on German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock to diplomatically boycott the Winter Olympics in and around Beijing.

Caring for more than 400 different species, the Zoological Society of London, London Zoo’s keepers face the challenging task of tallying up every mammal, bird, reptile, and invertebrate at the Zoo – counting everything from a colony of inquisitive Humboldt penguins to Critically Endangered Asiatic lions.
