A teacher working at a government school gave an online class inside an empty classroom in Dharavi, Mumbai, on Tuesday. Amid a surge in COVID-19 cases in Mumbai the civic body on Monday decided to shut schools of all mediums for classes until January 31, a civic official said.

A person wore a blue mask while gathering with others in front of the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin, on Tuesday for a protest rally against the 2022 Olympic Games in Beijing. A coalition of human rights organizations called on German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock to diplomatically boycott the Winter Olympics in and around Beijing.
