FDNY probes cause of Brooklyn Heights fire

On Friday morning, a four-alarm fire broke out at 132 Montague St. near Henry Street in Brooklyn Heights. The multi-family rowhouse houses the Heights Vision store.

The fire broke out around 6:08 a.m., causing a heavy smoke condition, according to John Hodgens, FDNY chief of operations. More than 200 firefighters and EMS personnel responded.

Few occupants were home at the time, and all were taken out safely, although one was displaced due to the blaze.

Several firefighters suffered non-serious injuries — including one who was trapped temporarily — and were taken to nearby hospitals. It was declared over by around 9:30 a.m., and investigators are looking into its causes.
