CANADA — Highway shut down: Rising floodwater surrounded a home and covered Highway 1 in Abbotsford, British Columbia, on Tuesday. Abbotsford Mayor Henry Braun said impassable highways were creating havoc in his city as police and firefighters tried to get people to evacuation centers. Sunny skies followed two days of torrential storms that dumped the typical amount of rain that the city gets in all of November, but the mayor said the water was still rising and Highway 1 would be shut down for some time.

BELARUS — Border checkpoint: Migrants warmed themselves near a fire at the checkpoint “Kuznitsa” at the Belarus-Poland border near Grodno, on Tuesday. Some of the migrants had children with them at the border in their desperate bid to reach the EU. Most were fleeing conflict, poverty, and instability in the Middle East and elsewhere.

SOUTH KOREA — Praying: Parents prayed during a special service to wish for their children’s success on the eve of the college entrance exams at the Jogyesa Buddhist temple in Seoul, on Wednesday.
