HAITI — Getting ready: Reflected in a mirror, Catholic priest Jean-Nicaise Millien changed clothes to start giving a Mass in Port-au-Prince on Sunday. Father Millien was kidnapped for 20 days along with other priests, nuns, and civilians in April by the 400 Mawoso gang who have been holding 17 members of a U.S.-based missionary group Christian Aid Ministries for more than 3 weeks.

NEW HAMPSHIRE — Oldest hiker: M.J. Eberhart, 83, carefully made his way through large rocks while descending Mount Hayes on the Appalachian Trail on Sunday, Sept. 12, in Gorham. Eberhart, who goes by the trail name of Nimblewill Nomad, was the oldest person to hike the entire 2,193-mile Appalachian Trail.
