SPAIN — Lava: Lava flowed from a volcano, destroying houses in the La Laguna neighborhood on the Canary island of La Palma, on Thursday. A second tongue of lava was expected to reach the Atlantic today and release more toxic gases into the atmosphere, an event that will lead to the home confinement of some nearby towns.
