PHILIPPINES — Election: Philippine Vice President Leni Robredo waved as she declared her bid to run for president during a speech in Quezon city, on Thursday. Robredo, who led the opposition, announced on Thursday that she would run for president in next year’s elections in a long-anticipated decision that would bring the liberal lawyer to a potentially bruising faceoff with the son of the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos who has declared he would seek the top post.

FLORIDA — Suspect: Parkland school shooter Nikolas Cruz cried in court during day two of jury selection in his trial at the Broward County Courthouse in Fort Lauderdale, on Wednesday, on four criminal counts stemming from his alleged attack on a Broward jail guard in November 2018. Cruz is accused of punching Sgt. Ray Beltran, wrestling him to the ground and taking his stun gun.
