SOUTH KOREA — The other side: A visitor took photos toward the North’s side at the Imjingak Pavilion in Paju, near the border with North Korea, on Friday. North Korean leader Kim Jong Un’s powerful sister, Kim Yo Jong, said on Friday that North Korea is willing to resume talks with South Korea if it doesn’t provoke the North with hostile policies and double standards.

Things appeared quiet at the headquarters of the heavily indebted Chinese real estate developer Evergrande, one day after the day it had promised to pay back the interest due to bondholders in China.

SPAIN — Evacuation: Residents left their house as lava continued to flow from an erupted volcano, in La Mancha on the island of La Palma in the Canaries, on Friday. A volcano in Spain’s Canary Islands continued to produce explosions and spew out lava, five days after it erupted. Two rivers of lava continue to slide slowly down the hillside of La Palma on Friday.
