Electric scooter collided with dump truck in Prospect Park South
Police reports show horrible end for a 27-year-old riding an electric scooter.
On Thursday, July 22nd, 2021 at approximately 0608 hours, police responded to a 911 call of a motor vehicle collision involving an electric scooter in the vicinity of Caton Avenue and 7th Street, within the confines of the 66 precinct. Upon arrival, officers encountered a 27-year-old male, unconscious and unresponsive, lying on the roadway with severe head trauma. EMS responded to the location and pronounced the male deceased. Further investigation by the NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad determined that the 27-year-old male was operating an electric scooter eastbound on Caton Avenue when he collided with a 2017 Kenmore dump truck that was also traveling eastbound on Caton Avenue. The 42-year-old male operator of the dump truck remained at the scene. There are no arrests at this time and the investigation is ongoing by the NYPD’s Highway Patrol C.I.S.
The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending family notification.
