FLORIDA — Praying: A churchgoer prayed during Sunday mass at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Miami Beach on Sunday. The feeling in the church, just a few blocks from where rescuers continued to dig for survivors through the rubble of a partially collapsed building at Champlain Towers South, was solemn, with people filtering in and out for the early masses.

PALESTINE — Detained: Palestinian security officers in plainclothes detained a demonstrator during clashes that erupted following a rally protesting the death of Palestinian Authority outspoken critic Nizar Banat, in the West Bank city of Ramallah, on Saturday. Banat, who was a candidate in parliamentary elections called off earlier this year, died after Palestinian security forces arrested him and beat him with batons last Thursday, his family said.
