SRI LANKA — Ship fire: Impoverished Sri Lankans salvaged pieces of a wreck that washed ashore from burning Singaporean ship MV X-Press Pearl, which was anchored off Colombo port at Kapugoda, on Wednesday. A fire on the container ship raged for a sixth day Wednesday, and India sent vessels to help douse the blaze, officials said.

AUSTRALIA — Moonrise: A yacht sailed past as the moon rose in Sydney on Wednesday. The moon was a total lunar eclipse, also known as a Super Blood Moon, making the moon appear slightly reddish-orange in color.
