AUSTRALIA — Water workout: A man paddled his kayak past the HMAS Arunta, an Anzac-class frigate of the Royal Australian Navy, in Sydney harbor on Tuesday. New Zealand announced that April 19 is the start date for a long-anticipated travel bubble between Australia and New Zealand that will allow people to travel between the two countries without going through quarantine, allowing families to reunite and giving a big boost to the struggling tourism industry.

RUSSIA — Detained: Police officers detained the Alliance of Doctors union’s leader Anastasia Vasilyeva at the prison colony IK-2, which stands out among Russian penitentiary facilities for its particularly strict regime, in Pokrov, 85 kilometers (53 miles) east of Moscow on Tuesday. Doctors from the Navalny-backed Alliance of Doctors announced going to the Pokrov prison on Tuesday to demand the opposition leader get qualified medical help from independent doctors after he complained about pain in his leg and back.

MYANMAR — Red hand: An anti-coup protester showed the three-fingered salute of resistance on his red painted hand in memory of protesters who lost their lives during previous demonstrations in Yangon on Tuesday. Threats of lethal violence and arrests of protesters have failed to suppress daily demonstrations across Myanmar demanding the military step down and reinstate the democratically elected government.
