SPAIN — Just a trim: Yassime, 29, from Morocco cut the hair of Ibrahim, 22, also from Morocco outside the Las Raices camp in San Cristobal de la Laguna, in the Canary Island of Tenerife on Friday. While Spain was critical of its European neighbors’ lack of solidarity when it came to sharing the responsibility of migration, the country is similarly being criticized by migrants, authorities, and human rights organizations on the Canary Islands where some 23,000 people arrived by sea last year and where many thousands remain on the island forcefully.
