An American Kestral, seen in Brooklyn Bridge Park, December 2020. North America’s smallest Falcon, the kestral has a predator’s fierce intensity in a compact body that is the most colorful of all the raptors. With long pointed wings, it flies fast and uses its beak as its primary weapon (hawks have broad wings and use their talons). Scientific name: Falco sparverius.
