MONSTER-SIZED TALENT: Ray Harryhausen was born 100 years ago today. The special effects wizard perfected the stop-motion animation he learned from mentor William O’Brien and created what he called “Dynamation.” He thrilled moviegoers in the 1950s and ’60s with realistic, rampaging monsters and alarming skeletal warriors in such films as “The Beast From 20,000 Fathoms,” “The 7th Voyage of Sinbad” and “Jason and the Argonauts.” He died in 2013.
