PROFILE IN COURAGE: John F. Kennedy was born on this day in 1917. The Massachusetts native was a hero of World War II. He was elected to Congress in 1946, to the Senate in 1952, and won a Pulitzer Prize in 1957 for his book “Profiles in Courage.” In 1960, he won a close election to become the 35th president of the U.S. He was the youngest man ever elected president and the first Roman Catholic. He was assassinated in Dallas on Nov. 22, 1963.
