Retired Justice Gerard Rosenberg dies of coronavirus at age 85
Former Brooklyn Justice Gerard Rosenberg, who sat on the bench from 1985 until his retirement in 2011, died on Monday night while in Sarasota Memorial Hospital in Florida where he was hospitalized with COVID-19 for nearly two weeks.
One of the founding members of the Nathan R. Sobel American Inns of Court, Justice Rosenberg was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin and Brooklyn Law School. After having a private practice for over 10 years, Justice Rosenberg became the law secretary for Hon. Irving Rader and then Hon. Aaron Koota from 1974 until 1984.
In 1985, Rosenberg was elected to the Civil Court in Brooklyn and he was named deputy supervising judge of that court in 1991, a position he served through 1997. Justice Rosenberg was elected to the Kings County Supreme Court in 1999 and sat on that bench until his retirement in 2011.
