Democratic presidential candidate and former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg opened a campaign office in Boerum Hill on Monday.

The new space at 535 Atlantic Ave. will be open daily and will focus on connecting Bloomberg’s “extensive network of supporters and allies” in the borough, according to his campaign team.

The location will be a hub for organizing, phone banking and several small and large events focusing on issues important to Brooklynites ahead of the April 28th New York Democratic Primary. (A formal kick-off gathering will be held in the coming weeks.)

Brooklyn has long been ground zero for presidential hopefuls.

Sen. Bernie Sanders and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton have long touted their connections to the borough and tried to use those ties to gain support in the Empire State during the 2016 presidential race.

Sanders is a Brooklyn native who grew up in Flatbush, attended Brooklyn College and opened a campaign office in Gowanus. In 2017, he spoke at the commencement ceremony for Brooklyn College at Barclays Center and was awarded an honorary degree by the school.

Clinton is a former New York senator and had her campaign headquarters in Brooklyn Heights at One Pierrepont Plaza.

They also both took part in a fiery Democratic presidential primary debate at the Brooklyn Navy Yard.

Presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren also recently held her first campaign rally in Brooklyn at the historic Kings Theatre.
