KEPT THEM DOGGIES ROLLIN’: The Western TV series “Rawhide” premiered on this day in 1959. The show told the story of cattle drovers Gil Favor (Eric Fleming) and Rowdy Yates (Clint Eastwood), who often came across trouble on the trail. The show ran for seven and a half years, until its final episode in 1966. It was the sixth-longest-running classic Western, after “Wagon Train,” “The Virginian,” “Bonanza,” “Death Valley Days” and “Gunsmoke.”
