An off-duty NYPD cop was arrested in a fatal drunk driving crash Sunday morning, after he allegedly slammed his car into another vehicle in East Flatbush, killing a passenger in the other car.

NYPD officer Rohan Shaw was driving east on Foster Avenue in his 2019 Nissan GTR around 5 a.m. and the other car, a Mazda driven by a man with two women passengers, was heading north on East 55th Street when they collided in the intersection, sending the Mazda spinning out into a telephone pole.

The driver of the Mazda fled the scene on foot, leaving his mortally injured passenger, Joanna Dixon, and another woman in the car.

Dixon was taken to Brookdale Hospital, where she died. The other passenger was taken to the hospital as well, but is expected to survive.

Shaw was taken into custody by police and charged with vehicular manslaughter and criminally negligent homicide, as well as speeding, driving drunk and reckless driving.

The Brooklyn district attorney is not immediately proceeding with charges against Shaw in the case. Prosecution of Shaw is being deferred pending further investigation, a DA spokesperson told the Brooklyn Eagle.

The Mazda may have driven through a stop sign, according to the New York Post. It was not clear Monday if the driver of the Mazda would also be charged.

After the crash, Shaw was suspended without pay by the NYPD, according to a spokesperson.
