More than 100 dogs presented their best Halloween costumes to hundreds of spectators in Fort Greene Park on Saturday for the 21st annual Great PUPkin Dog Costume Contest.
At the bottom of the Prison Ship Martyrs’ Monument stairs, a record 120 dogs ran around to the delight of Brooklynites witnessing the cutest thing they’d seen all year.
The costumes ranged from Rosie the Riveter and Woof Bader Ginsburg to the sold-out Popeyes chicken sandwich.
The three winners, who were awarded based on crowd applause, were the elaborate Snoopy and the Red Baron, Star Wars: The Pups Strike Back and Honey, I Blew up Chester.
The two Yorkshire terriers who pulled off Snoopy and the Red Baron also took home first prize in the Tompkins Square contest on Oct. 20.
Some honorable mentions were given to a fluffy Megan Rapinoe impersonator, a tiny four-legged hot dog cart and a Thanksgiving Dinner, among others.
The event is held each year by Fort Green Park Users and Pets Society, which was formed in 1998 as a way to unify the dog owners that frequented the historic park.
