For the first time, New Yorkers will have the chance to cast an early ballot starting Oct. 26 — and Uber and Lyft are offering rides to early voting poll sites citywide at a 50 percent discount.

To receive the discount, request a ride to your early voting polling place (which may differ from your Election Day polling place) and use the code NYCVOTES. The discount is for a single ride (one way) and is good for up to $5 off, while rides are available.

On the ballot this election are five proposals for revisions to the city’s charter. Voters will get the chance to weigh in on ranked choice voting, changes to the Civilian Complaint Review Board, rules for government ethics, a rainy-day fund for the city budget and a longer timetable for public input during the ULURP process, which is triggered when a developer applies for changes or exceptions to the city’s zoning laws.

Early voting sites open Oct. 26 and will remain open through Nov. 3. To find your early polling place, visit Voting.NYC and click “Where to Vote.”

Voters who can’t make it to their polling place can mail an application for an absentee ballot to the Board of Elections before Oct. 29.
