TODAY IS THE ANNIVERSARY of the discovery of the ruins of Pompeii, the Roman city that was buried during the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius in 79 AD. Spaniard Rocque Joaquin de Alcubierre came upon the ruins of Pompeii in 1748.
